Ha Noi halts all footpath work (11/06/2010)
 

VietNamNet Bridge – Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao has ordered a temporary freeze on issuing permits for digging roads and pavements in urban areas between June 2 and the end of October.

 

Workers lay cables in Tay Son Street, Ha Noi. The city leader has ordered a temporary halt to issuing permits for digging up roads and pavements.

Projects with the aim of upgrading urban public works to serve the 1,000th anniversary of the capital that have had committee approval will be exempt from the construction freeze.

For special consideration, the city’s Department of Construction will be required to report to the committee.

Thao also asked the department to co-ordinate with the Department of Transport, the Department of Planning and Architecture and district People’s Committees to supervise and speed up the work of laying cables underground.

Repair works on of a number of streets including Kim Ma-Nguyen Thai Hoc, Lang Ha, Nguyen Trai, Hue-Hang Bai and Ton Duc Thang-Nguyen Luong Bang-Tay Son will be completed in July as planned. The construction department will join forces with the Department of Planning and Architecture to consult on road work projects such as the road linking Noi Bai Airport and Pham Van Dong Road.

Repairs on other streets including Giang Vo, Xuan Thuy-Cau Giay, Nguyen Trai, Bach Mai and Tran Hung Dao will be delayed until after October.
