Tour of Thang Long Citadel (top)

On November 1, Jean-Paul Huchon and the delegation were guests of Hanoi People’s Committee Deputy Chairman Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Hang and the director of the Centre for the Preservation and Management of the Thang Long and Co Loa Citadels. They were taken on a tour of the archaeological site and conserved citadel buildings. A museum tour commentary was provided courtesy of Olivier Tessier, senior lecturer at the EFEO Centre in Hanoi.
The IDF Regional Tourism Board with the support of IMV had previously assisted their Vietnamese partners to write up the site management plan required when submitting the heritage site nomination file to UNESCO.
The two sides were delighted with the site being included on the World Heritage List in August 2010 and agreed to extend their cooperation to develop conservation and showcasing programmes involving tourist intake and site museum facilities, as well as for the restoration of one building.
