Renovation of Thuy Khue bus depot (07 - 10/2004)

Depot before and after reconstruction

The old tramway depot dating back to the colonial era is now used as a municipal bus maintenance shop. The building was dilapidated and under-equipped, and had to be entirely retrofitted. The equipment needed to properly maintain the buses was purchased on the European market and set up on the premises. The equipment list included a brake tester, an injector testing pump, an opacity analyzer, moveable hoist columns, pit jack, floor leveler, digital multi-meter, compressor, water distiller, used engine oil catcher, tire changing machine and tire cutting machine.

Depot inauguration

Olivier Boudoux, a Paris Public Transport Company maintenance center executive, supervised the renovation work, selected the equipment and came to Hanoi to oversee installation of the equipment and provide training for mechanics. This is now the only depot in Hanoi that has an electronic brake checking system and bus pollution control device. A German master mechanic (with funding from Asia Trans) is on two-year assignment of duty to ensure the smooth handover of the machinery and its management by the Vietnamese team.
