Hoang Quoc Viet Avenue in western Hanoi has been
set selected by the Vietnamese partners on the Hanoi People’s Committee for a
new bus interchange. Île-de-France Region, with a European funding package, has
already completed two identical projects (Long Bien and Cau Giay). The future site
will provide direct service to the nearby National University of Tourism and indirect
service to numerous government buildings and higher education facilities. Furthermore,
it is right on a key Hanoi street junction, the Ring Road number 3 tying
together Hanoi’s new development districts (My Dinh) and Thang Long Bridge on
the highway to the international airport. Thus, the objective is to construct
an interchange patterned after those already successfully put up. This will
improve the city’s bus network and give a better image to the city.

As part of this project,
the Hanoi People’s Committee has asked Île-de- France Region to perform a study
on an exclusive bus corridor in the middle of the avenue. Hoang Quoc Viet
Avenue, currently 3 kilometres long, is expected to become one of the capital’s
exclusive right-of-way road sections in the near future.
